About Us

The Strathpeffer Community Association was formed in May 2000.

The name was changed in January 2021 to Strathpeffer Community Development Trust Limited.

The Trust has been formed to benefit principally the community of STRATHPEFFER AND DISTRICT which comprises the community council area of Strathpeffer and District Community Council (“the Community”) with the following objects:

 

The advancement of community development (including the advancement of rural regeneration) principally within the Community;

 

The advancement of citizenship

 

The advancement of education

 

The advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science

 

The advancement of environmental protection or improvement, including the preservation, sustainable development and conservation of the natural environment, the maintenance, improvement or provision of environmental amenities for the Community and/or the preservation of buildings or sites of architectural, historic or other importance to the Community;

 

The provision of recreational facilities, or the organisation of recreational activities available to members of the Community and to members of the public at large, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the Community.

 

But only to the extent that the above purposes are consistent with furthering the achievement of sustainable development.

Our board members are nominated and approved by the members at the AGM.

We operate a Community Centre for Strathpeffer and the surrounding district offering both activities for the community and a place where other community groups can hold activities. We operate as a learning centre, organise holiday crèches, offer meeting rooms, provide full service for conferences, computer facilities, family gatherings. We organise community events like the science festival, art fair and a village market.

The Community Centre is the run by a sub-committee of Directors and we have everything from ceilidhs, fitness classes, adult learning classes, bouncy castle parties, dancing, Science and Art Fairs and cooking demos.

The centre employs a Centre Coordinator to oversee the running of the centre along with a number of staff to assist her.

Membership

Membership of the Strathpeffer Community Development Trust Ltd (SCDT) is free and open to all residents aged 16 and over, who live within the boundaries of Strathpeffer and District Community Council; with members’ liability limited to £1 per member.

 

SCDT is managed by a Board of Directors elected from its members who have the responsibility for managing the Company’s affairs. The Board currently comprises a total of 6 Directors with a wide range of backgrounds and experience. We can have a total of 10 Directors.

 

We need your support :

 

•Join as an Ordinary Member (aged 16 or over and resident in the Community Council area)

•Join as an Associate Member (aged 16 or over but not resident in the Community Council area)

•Join as a Junior Member (aged 12 to 15)

•Become a Board Member (open to all Ordinary Members)

 

The number of people being a Member of the Trust, joining the Board or using the Community Centre can have a significant impact when we are applying for funding.
